JV2 Falls Short Against Br. Rice in Thrilling Matchup
Flossmoor, IL - Last night, in a hard-fought battle in Flossmoor, the JV2 hockey team faced off against Br. Rice but came up just short, falling to the Crusaders by a final score of 4-3.
The game got off to a rocky start for LW as Br. Rice netted the first goal in the opening period. However, the home team quickly responded, with Ben Cygan lighting the lamp and tying the game, assisted by Brandon Plahm. Shortly after, LW surged ahead with a goal from Ben Ersfeldt, set up by Jake Nelson, putting them in the lead.
Despite the momentum shift, Br. Rice rallied, scoring another goal to tie the game once more. Cygan, not to be outdone, netted his second goal of the night with help from Plahm, giving LW a brief 3-2 advantage. Yet, Br. Rice answered back with two unanswered goals, sealing their victory.
Alex Welsh stood strong in net, making 22 saves throughout the match. The team will look to regroup and learn from this close contest as they prepare for their next challenge.
