Dominant Performance: Varsity Overwhelms Spartans 8-2
In a commanding display of skill and teamwork, the Varsity team defeated the Spartans by a final score of 8-2 in their latest matchup. From the first drop of the puck, Lincoln-Way established their dominance, scoring four unanswered goals in the opening period.
Jimmy Maurer kicked off the scoring frenzy, netting the first goal with assists from Chase Riechers and Quinten Lange. Momentum continued to build as Max Angsten scored the second goal, thanks to assists from Dillon Brandenburg and Jack Drozdek. Carter Barr then added to the lead, scoring with help from Landon Pote before Angsten struck again, bringing his evening total to two goals with another assist from Drozdek.
The Spartans attempted to regroup and responded quickly at the start of the second period with a goal, but any hope of a comeback was swiftly extinguished when Mason Meskimen found the back of the net. His goal came courtesy of assists from Jimmy Maurer and Carter Barr, maintaining Lincoln-Way's commanding lead as the teams headed into the third period.
The third period saw Max Angsten achieve a hat trick, scoring his third goal of the night with an assist from Landon Pote. Luke Riechers followed suit, adding another goal to the tally, with help from Jack Drozdek and Dillon Brandenburg. Although the Spartans managed to score once more, Colin Lassiter capped off the scoring for Lincoln-Way with a well-placed shot, assisted by Max Angsten and Ricky Schultz.
In the net, Blake Lord was solid, stopping 14 of the shots he faced to secure the victory and contribute to the team’s impressive performance.
