Hockey Game Recap: LW and Lake Forest Battle to 2-2 Tie
In an exciting showdown at HF Ice Arena, JV2 faced off against Lake Forest and skated away with a hard-fought 2-2 tie.
Lake Forest opened the scoring in the first period, gaining momentum with a goal that set the tone for the first half of the game. They followed up with another goal halfway through the second period, putting LW in a challenging position trailing 2-0.
However, the tide began to turn when Brandon Plahm found the back of the net, reducing Lake Forest's lead to one goal with just 3:45 remaining in the second period. Plahm's goal was set up beautifully by Alex Macri, who showcased his playmaking ability.
With renewed energy, LW carried that momentum into the third period. Ben Cygan then tied the game with a collaborative effort, scoring the equalizer midway through the period with assistance from both Alex Macri and Brandon Plahm.
Despite both teams pushing hard for the winning goal, the score remained knotted at 2-2 as the final buzzer sounded. Chris Greene stood out in net for LW, making an impressive 23 saves that kept his team in contention for the win. His performance was a key factor in earning the tie against a competitive Lake Forest squad.
