JV Blue Opens Season with Tough Loss in Home-and-Home Series vs. PREP Hockey Club
Blue hockey team kicked off their season with a challenging home-and-home series against PREP Hockey Club this weekend. The opening game, held on Saturday night in Mt. Prospect, saw JV Blue fall to PREP with a final score of 4-2.
The game started on a high note for JV Blue, as Carter Prochaska lit the lamp in the 1st period with an assist from goalie Jacob Bandzi. However, despite the early momentum, PREP managed to tighten their defense and control much of the play for the remainder of the game.
After a scoreless middle period, JV Blue saw a glimmer of hope in the 3rd when Anthony Skopick, assisted by Hunter Lovett, tied the game. Unfortunately, the joy was short-lived as PREP scored the go-ahead goal at 9:32 of the final period. To seal their victory, PREP added an empty-net goal as the game wound down.
Jacob Bandzi, who was busy between the pipes, turned in a solid performance with 20 saves, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win for his team.
In the second game of their home-and-home series against PREP Hockey Club, JV Blue struggled to find their rhythm, falling 4-0 on Sunday. The game, held at Seven Bridges Ice Arena, concluded a challenging weekend for the team.
PREP Hockey Club’s offense proved too strong for JV Blue, as they were able to score four unanswered goals. Despite a valiant effort by goalie Jacob Anderson, who recorded 15 saves, JV Blue was unable to mount a comeback.
Looking ahead, JV Blue will seek to turn their fortunes around when Illinois West play resumes next weekend. They will face the DuPage Stars on Sunday at 4:40 p.m. at Seven Bridges Ice Arena.
