JV Red Battles Hard But Falls to Loyola in Kings Kup Semifinals

On a crisp Sunday morning, JV Red took to the ice for their semi-final clash against Loyola in the Kings Kup tournament in West Dundee. Loyola quickly established dominance, seizing a 2-goal lead within the first 5 minutes of the game. Despite this early setback, JV Red rallied with determination.

Ben Irwin ignited the Red offense with a goal at 15:17 of the first period, with Alex Difiore providing the assist. Momentum shifted briefly as Jacob Nelson scored just under 2 minutes later, thanks to a key assist from Ben Ersfeldt, bringing the score to 2-2.

However, Loyola regained control and responded with 3 unanswered goals. Despite a late rally by Alex Macri, who scored in the second period, JV Red could not overcome the deficit, ultimately falling 5-3.

The loss stings, but JV Red will have the chance to seek redemption when they face Loyola again at home on September 22nd in league play.
