JV Red Secures Victory Over New Trier in North Central Opener
Flossmoor, IL – In a gripping rematch, JV Red sought to avenge an earlier season defeat and did so triumphantly with a 4-2 win over New Trier yesterday at HF Ice Arena.
The action heated up early as LW's Brandon Plahm put JV Red on the scoreboard at the 8-minute mark of the first period, with Ben Cygan providing the assist. The scoreline remained unchanged through the first period, with both teams showing strong defensive play.
The second period saw a surge of intensity. Alex DiFiore extended JV Red's lead with an unassisted goal at 13:37. However, New Trier responded with a resilient comeback, netting two unanswered goals to tie the game.
With just 1:02 remaining in the third period, Jacob Cleghorn emerged as the hero, scoring what would be the decisive goal with an assist from Alex DiFiore. The game was sealed when Alex Macri scored an open net goal, assisted by Brandon Plahm.
The victory marks a strong start for JV Red in North Central play, demonstrating their resilience and teamwork. They are right back on the ice today at HF, taking on Prep at 4:30pm
