JV2 Triumph Over Vernon Hills – Libertyville Icecats in 3-1 Victory

In an exciting matchup last night, JV2 faced off against the Vernon Hills – Libertyville Icecats, emerging with a 3-1 victory. 

Mark Weiss kicked off the scoring for LW, netting an unassisted goal at 10:16 in the first period. His early goal set the tone for the team, giving them the momentum they needed to propel through the rest of the game. 

The 2nd period saw both teams have some great chances but none of the pucks found the back of the net.  The Icecats got on the board quickly in the 3rd by LW was able to answer. Jacob Nelson quickly responded with a pivotal goal, assisted by Weiss, marking it as the game-winning goal (GWG), putting LW ahead 2-1..

With just two minutes left on the clock, Ben Cygan secured the win further by slotting in an assurance goal, aided by Brandon Plahm’s assist. This late goal brought the score to 3-1, sealing the fate of the Wildcats.

In goal, Chris Greene showcased impressive skill, stopping 19 shots and maintaining the lead established by his teammates. His solid performance between the pipes was crucial in ensuring the Icecats held on to their advantage throughout the game.
