New Era Begins at Lincoln-Way Hockey
The Lincoln-Way District Hockey Club has announced the appointment of 2023-2024 AHIA High School Coach of the Year Joe Montagano as their new Head Varsity Coach and Hockey Director, ushering in a new era of excellence for their program. With a wealth of experience and a passion for developing young talent, Coach Montagano brings a dynamic vision to the club that will undoubtedly propel the club to new heights.
Coach Montagano's impressive coaching pedigree speaks for itself. He has honed his craft at various levels of the game, from youth development with the Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings program to the Sandburg Eagles High School program. His dedication to player development, tactical acumen, and commitment to fostering a positive team culture make him the ideal leader for our club.
As Head Coach and Hockey Director, Coach Joe will oversee all aspects of the LW program, from player development and team strategies to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for players of all skill levels. His leadership will undoubtedly inspire the players to reach their full potential both on and off the ice.
Coach Matt Austin to Lead JV 1 Team
In addition to Coach Montagano's appointment, LW Hockey is thrilled to announce Coach Matt Austin as the new Head Coach for our JV 1 team. Matt has been with the Lincoln-Way program since 2019 and has been an assistant on JV 1 and head coach of JV 2 over that time. With a keen understanding of the game and a passion for mentoring young players, Coach Austin is well-positioned to guide the JV 1 squad to success in the upcoming season. His emphasis on skill development and strategic gameplay will undoubtedly empower the players to excel on the ice.
Coach Mark Bandzi Takes Charge of JV 2 Team
Completing our coaching lineup, LW Hockey is delighted to welcome Coach Mark Bandzi as the new Head Coach of our JV 2 team. Coach Bandzi brings the experience of 5 AHAI JV State Championships and 13 Catholic League JV Championships while coaching for Mt. Carmel and Providence with him. His extensive coaching experience and dedication to fostering a positive team culture make him the perfect fit to lead Lincoln-Way's JV 2 squad. Under his guidance, players will have the opportunity to grow both as athletes and individuals, setting the stage for a successful season ahead.
