Thrilling OT Shootout Victory for Varsity Over Glenbard

Flossmoor, IL – In a nail-biting matchup last night, the Varsity hockey team stunned first-place Glenbard with a thrilling 3-2 victory, secured in a shootout after an intense overtime period.

The game started off strong for the home team, with Max Angsten lighting the lamp at 15:18 in the first period, giving LW an early 1-0 lead. Assists came from Dillon Brandenburg and Chase Riechers, setting the tone for an exciting evening on the ice.

Despite a scoreless second period, Angsten struck again in the third, netting his second goal of the night unassisted and pushing the lead to 2-0. However, Glenbard wasn’t about to go down without a fight. The visitors rallied late in the third period, scoring two quick goals that tied the game at 2-2, forcing it into overtime.

The five-minute overtime period saw both teams battle fiercely, but neither could find the game-winner, leading to a tense shootout. LW's Ryan Sullivan, who had an outstanding night in goal, made a crucial save against Glenbard’s first shooter, setting the stage for his team's chance to clinch the victory.
