Varsity Claims Thrilling Victory Over Warriors Hockey Club
In a hard-fought battle last night at HF Ice Arena, the Varsity team emerged victorious against the Warriors Hockey Club with a final score of 5-4.
The first period set the tone for the evening, seeing the Warriors strike first with an early goal. However, just over a minute later, Varsity responded with a goal from Quinten Lange, assisted by AJ Hull, leveling the score. The Warriors quickly retook the lead less than 30 seconds later, making it 2-1. But Mason Meskimen had other plans, tying the game once again with just 2:43 remaining in the period, thanks to assists from Darren Rys and Dillon Brandenburg.
The second period saw a shift in momentum as LW outscored the Warriors 2-1. Landon Pote found the back of the net with assistance from Quinten Lange, who was proving to be a pivotal player throughout the game. Jack Drozdek then added another goal for LW, assisted by Jimmy Maurer and Marty McCauley, giving the team a narrow lead as they headed into the final period.
As the third period heated up, LW's 4-3 lead looked secure until the Warriors pulled off a short-handed goal with just 2:45 left on the clock, tying the game at 4. Tensions ran high as both teams battled for the lead in the closing minutes.
But it was Colin Lassiter who delivered when it mattered most, scoring an unassisted, power-play, game-winning goal with just 1:41 remaining, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
In goal, Ryan Sullivan was a standout performer for LW, turning away an impressive 41 shots throughout the game.
