Varsity Falls to Nequa Valley in Close Contest
Romeoville, IL – The Varsity team faced a tough challenge this evening against Nequa Valley, ultimately falling short with a final score of 4-2. Despite a valiant effort, the team couldn’t quite overcome a slow start.
After a scoreless first period, Nequa Valley struck quickly, scoring just 19 seconds into the second frame. However, LW responded six minutes later when John Sullivan found the back of the net, assisted by Cam Malecha and Max Angsten, leveling the score at 1-1.
Nequa Valley regained control, scoring two consecutive goals to push their lead to 3-1. With time winding down in the third period, Chase Riecher smade a valiant effort to bring LW back into contention, scoring with 1:43 left on the clock and was assisted by Cam Malecha. Despite his goal, the team was unable to close the gap further.
In net, Blake Lord put in a solid performance, stopping 35 shots to keep his team competitive throughout the game.
